Thorough Certificate of Fitness and Warrant of Fitness checks for vehicle safety
Warrants of Fitness (WoFs) for cars and Certificates of Fitness (CoFs) for heavy vehicles are legal requirements to ensure that vehicles are road-worthy and safe. Driving without a WoF or CoF is illegal unless you are driving to the garage to have an inspection or associated repairs carried out.
Harty Mechanical offers prompt WoFs and CoFs for vehicle owners across Te Awamutu from an NZTA-approved inspector. And to make things even easier for you, we can remind you when your vehicle is due for it's next inspection.
CoF Repairs
If you know that work needs to be carried out beforehand, talk to us about booking it in for CoF repairs with our experienced team of truck mechanics first. If an issue is discovered during the inspection, we can arrange repairs for you.
Contact us to arrange your CoF or WoF. We welcome customers from across the Waipa district and the wider Waikato region to our garage in Te Awamutu. And don't forget if you need us to, our mobile mechanics can deal with your vehicles on site.

Warrants of Fitness (WoFs) ensure your car is safe on the road
All cars in New Zealand require a regular Warrant of Fitness (WoF) inspection to be road-legal. The age of the vehicle determines when and how often you need to get a WoF.
Cars first registered before 2000, require a WoF every six months
Cars first registered in 2000 or later require a WoF annually
Cars first registered between two and three years ago require a WoF annually
Cars first registered less than two years ago are issued a WoF until the third anniversary of when it was first registered
New cars are issued a WoF for three years from the date of first registration
A WoF inspection is designed to check the safety and condition of the vehicle and includes:
Structural condition including looking for rust or damage
Checking the windscreen for damage and clarity
Windscreen wipers and washers
Lights
Brakes
Tyre condition
Exhaust and fuel system
Seatbelts
Doors
Speedometer
Airbags, antilock braking systems and electronic stability control systems
